Julep Venue: Branding, Marketing & Grand Opening

Project Summary

When the owners of Snake Oil Cocktail Co. invested in an old restaurant with the hopes to turn it into an event space, restaurant and cafe, I was there on day one to help bring the vision to life.

Over the course of a year, I helped shape every aspect of the venue—from crafting the brand story and visual identity to designing the client experience and building a network of preferred partners. Together, we remodeled the space, developed the venue’s full marketing strategy, and launched it with a high-impact grand opening.

Building the Brand & Launching the Event Space

Branding & Identity

  • Developed full brand identity including logo, typography, and visual system

  • Crafted tone of voice and positioning to appeal to both clients and planners

Website & Digital Presence

  • Designed and built the venue’s website from scratch

  • Wrote all copy and created branded visuals to support the launch

  • Implemented basic SEO structure and keyword strategy

  • Launched a highly successful Instagram account, building early buzz and industry engagement

  • Set up and optimized listings across platforms including Google Business, Yelp, WeddingWire, and The Knot

Venue Launch & Events

  • Produced and managed the opening party featuring 40+ vendor partners

  • Curated guest list of top local planners and event professionals

  • Secured all activations, rentals, and décor with a $0 budget

Marketing & Collateral

  • Created house rules, pricing sheets, FAQ docs, and other operational tools

  • Built photo libraries and shot venue content for marketing use

  • Developed venue pitch decks and social media starter assets

Partnerships & Business Development

  • Built strategic relationships with preferred vendors and agencies

  • Advised on sales flow, inquiry process, and client communications

  • Provided ongoing consulting in early growth phase

The Impact

My work played a foundational role in establishing Julep as one of San Diego’s most sought-after event venues. The brand identity, marketing assets, and operational systems I developed positioned the venue to attract high-end clientele and trusted industry partners from the very beginning.

Grand Opening

Julep officially opened its doors in February 2020 with a high-impact launch party designed to introduce the venue to San Diego’s top event professionals. The celebration brought together over 40 vendor partners and more than 300 guests, including planners, designers, and industry tastemakers.

Every element—from floral installations and food stations to lighting and lounge vignettes—was thoughtfully curated to showcase the venue’s versatility and aesthetic potential. Produced with a $0 budget through strategic partnerships, the event generated immediate buzz, media coverage, and a strong pipeline of future bookings.
